Real Boyz Bake

Williams-Sonoma how I love thee!

WS has some fantastic kids stuff, and lately I have hit the Shark Boy jackpot with it.

He loves to help me cook. He likes measuring, mixing, cracking eggs, rolling dough. Everything but chopping onions.

I was browsing in Williams-Sonoma, certain there had to be something I needed (I know it when I see it).

And there it was, all shiny metal and waiting to come home with me.

An octopus cake pan!

We made this:

And then, WS strikes again and takes another $50 bucks off my hands!

Sports cookie cutters and aprons - for little guys!

Here's my baker dude in his football apron. Ignore the messy kitchen with the laundry basket by the fridge and notice the quarterback on his chest and the football field across his middle! How cute is that?

The shapes come in a metal locker.

We made sugar cookie dough from scratch (oh yes I did!) and baked up some footballs and football players, bats and baseball players, and basketballs and basketball players. And helmets and pennants.

Sugarplum arrived in time to help tint the homemade icing (oh yes I did!) various colors and supervise the decorating.

Peyton Manning!

Yum!!!

Love that octopus cake! Did you decorate that too?

Even if I got the cake out of the pan without decapitating the octopus, I'd never be able to pull off the decorating. You've got skilz.

The octopus cake pan is amazing! I rarely go in WS, but when I do, the specialty Bundt pans tempt me every time : )

My girls have the monogrammed lime green WS kiddie aprons. Super cute stuff!

p.s. my husband is a GREAT cook but does not bake...maybe that is a good thing, though? my hips are thankin' me ;)

That is awesome. I've been eyeing that octopus cake mold, but hadn't seen the sports cookie cutters yet. WS, here I come.

O.K., Martha Stewart. You are leaving us in the dust. But, very impresssive dust. That octopus cake is awesome!

I've heard that WS has great cookie cutters.

You are so very cool and awesome in the "Have Kids Help in the Kitchen" department. Really, you are. I have lacked that from day one, and I have girls...I think I signed a contract in the hospital about being legally binded to teaching them their way around the kitchen. I HATE IT. So, good for you! And...you're an inspiration to Mom's like me!
