Sunglass Hut Goes All Freaky
Sugarplum had two birthday wishes this year. A new iPod (thanks Mr. P for getting her that one! You rock!) and a nice pair of sunglasses from Sunglass Hut. Anyone been in a Sunglass Hut lately? What the heck happened there? I remember Sunglass Hut as a kiosk in the center isle of the mall selling quality sunglasses. The kind you pay some money for. But not 500 smackaroos kind of money. Now they have a whole section of Versace in the $300-$400 range. They have the new line of Tiffany shades (gorgeous, btw) in the $400s. And Chanel's in the $500s and up. And people were in there buying them up! Oh, they had some Oakleys and Ray-Bans too, which are dirt cheap by comparison. But those were relegated to a side corner section. Now, I must say that I have always coveted a pair of Jennifer sunglasses by Tom Ford which are in the $300 range. However, I buy sunglasses at Target because I've accepted the fact that I lose them and scratch them and break them. I'd like to think I could be trusted with designer sunglasses, but so far, not so much. So, based purely on the fact that I can't have sunglasses like this, I was appalled. (The price of a shoe will never appall me. It's a major flaw of mine.) Sugarplum (who has had the same cheap pair for a long time) choose a terribly adorable pair of Dolce & Gabbana's that were mercifully under $200. I actually liked them best of all the ones I let her try on (step AWAY from the Chanel's...). Sweet! I told her if something happens to them, I don't ever want to know about it.
