And now for something different, a poem.

On the surface, it looks distant from me.

Yet, a sizable patch of space inside me has been reserved for this devotion.

Rarely a day has passed in so many long months without at least a glimpse into this space. A prayer breathed into it.

I have wished on stars and lit candles in cathedrals and whispered to God from mountain tops and sandy beaches.

I have read fighting words and words of gratitude and been awestruck and inspired and scared.

It is not distant from me. Not in the ways that matter.

I am a daughter.

I am a sister.

I am, most important of all, a mother.

And so this, especially this last one, brings me close.

Pulled in tight, tears fall.

My weighty heart reaches out in silent sorrow.

Every prayer from every soul, carried aloft by a million breaths of Hope, has risen into a chorus of exquisite music and will play itself out in the heavens, now and forever.

Lovely. And so sad. And so lovely. But so sad.

Look! My high school poem inspired you! ;) Just kidding. This is much better than any high school crap I could write. Which isn't saying much, so I should clarify that THIS IS BEAUTIFUL.

I loved this poem. It has an ache to it that is touchable.

And I love that picture of you on the left sidebar in the hot green dress!
