I peeled a couple of Easter eggs and put one on Bear’s plate and one on my plate. I sprinkled them both with salt and added some pepper to my egg.
I put his plate in front of him. He looked at the egg.
“What dat?”
“It’s an egg.”
(pause)
“Chicken?”
“Yes. Eggs come from chickens.”
He gently touches it.
“Cud it.”
(He’s bossy.)
I cut the egg into pieces for him. He is now staring at my egg.
“Dirdy.”
This takes me a second…
“Oh! No Bear, it’s not dirty. That’s pepper.”
“Pay Per. Payper. Dirdy egg?”
“No. It’s just pepper.”
(long pause)
“Want chicken.”
I love conversations with 2 year olds!

Ha! Just reminds me of conversations with mine ... appparently it doesn't get easier ... when they turn into teenagers all you get a grunts
My 2 year old niece is so bossy too. I'm glad to think it is just the age.
I love them too!
I worked in the two-year-old room of a day care center one summer in college. One of my fellow teachers was very large busted, and one little boy said, "Miss Leah's got big boobies." Shocked, we laughed and asked, "Did your daddy teach you that?"
"Yes."
"Does your daddy like big boobies?"
"Yes."
"Does Miss Jessica have big boobies?"
"No."
I love it! I've got a bossy one too. Lately he's really been cranky so are conversations haven't been so much fun.
Brilliant. Can't wait till my baby starts talking, there will be some great conversations I'm sure!
me, too. :-)
I think, no, I'm sure, it just gets worse...this bossy thing. I used to think Megawatt would grow out of it. 17 years later I'm still waiting!
I also love conversations with toddlers... priceless!
