Last night, Bear inhaled a 9 oz bottle of milk, sat up in my bed, and let out a tremendous belch. I looked at him and said, "Do not even throw up in this bed."
He looked at me and said, "Wooord."
Can you even believe that? (Big Brother's handiwork.)
I watched him eat a Bear-sized dinner of steamed mixed veggies, an angus burger (no bun, just "kepup peas" (ketchup please)), and a small bowl of fresh strawberries.
Then he wanted to play with me - standing, sitting, jumping - on my lap. He's heavy and strong. And big. And chub-tastic. Like fluffy granite.
I stuffed him into his jammies and I was ready when he said, "Where my puppy go?" and I had Puppy on hand. We read a few books, ending as always with "bunnies!" (Guess How Much I Love You?")
Then I turned him toward me, tummy to tummy, his cannonball head heavy on my shoulder, his fat arms around my neck as I sang softly and patted his back. He's like holding a large ham. He is broad-backed, barrel chested, and it's a good solid thump when you pat him. He falls asleep like he's been poleaxed and goes straight into the crib for a good 12 hour rest.
He's a big, strong, healthy child.
When women see him they say, "Oh, he's so cute!" and "Look what a big boy!" and "
He is a healthy boy.
I am beyond grateful. This is the thing I am the absolute most consistent about when I pray - thankfulness so deep and wide and all encompassing that words are just too small to express it - that all three of my children are healthy. I pray continually that they all remain healthy and protected from harm.
I am beyond grateful.
And holding my last little one, hearing his big laugh, and seeing his fat baby face grinning at me?
Grateful...
Bear, you'll never ever guess how much I love you.
Word.

WORD! How funny. I love that cake. Is that bad?
The things they say... I once told my husband a secret in the car and told him not to say anything. "why?" "Because... I got it on the D-L Bay-beeee!"
Of course Sugarplum pipes up with "DL, Bay-bee!"
Then my mother explained where the expression originally came from
"Word" is just killing me. It's still really funny. I'm not sure how long that's going to last.
Dude - he is yummy!! WORD!
I just want to chomp down on those cheeks!!! What a cutie!!
I know what you mean about the extra long hugs today. My boys got some too!
WOOORD. That is so cute. Milk burps, though, not as cute.
So adorable. How old is he? I have a friend whose 3-year-old is in the same diapers as my 10-month-old. Linebacker.
Word.
evenshine - Bear is 27 months. But he's a size XL.
I love it! A few weeks ago, I had just served my girls lunch and my youngest (just turned 3) said "thank you your majesty!" After laughing hysterically, I thought to myself, "yep, that's my girl alright.
Woooooord is exactly right!
Awww, I am a mommy to one of these too! Fluffy granite type of boy, we call him tank. My 2 year old is made out of moonrock, very dense and extremely heavy. He is like a giant thumb, or fire hydrant with a bowling ball for a head. And he will actually lower his head and ram things. And his blonde curls and dimples are just as dangerous. Ok I will stop, loved your post.
That's awesome! "Word"...I wonder how long it will take Meg, once she's home for the summer, to teach that one to Imp, as she is ALWAYS saying it. Well, we both are.
Your post was beautiful...but dammit, I 'thought' I was done crying. I guess not.
Thank you for the reminder of what's really important.
