Life Is Not Fair

Look at the eyelashes my son was born with:

Long, lush, with just the right amount of curl. And even though he's as blonde as he can be with light blue eyes, his lashes are dark.

I don't know where he got them (not from me or his father), but it's just not fair.

His whole life women have come up to him and said, "Look at those lashes!" He's threatened to cut them off he's so tired of hearing it. (Look at the bottom ones too - how long they are!)

Anyway, I have lash enhancing recommendations for those of us who need a boost.*

My favorite mascara is Dior Show. I love it because it goes on without clumping and doesn't flake. (I know they all claim that - this one really doesn't do those bad things.)

My second favorite (less expensive) mascara is L'Oreal Voluminous. It goes on almost as well. It's by far the best drugstore brand I've found.

I can't use Maybelline Great Lash, which so many people swear by. Clumpy sticky goo that stuff is. (I am the Yoda of mascaras, apparently.)

And I'll throw this in for free. Makeup remover without equal: Almay Makeup Remover Pads. These things are awesome. You don't have to tug at your eye and they aren't drippy or stingy. Do not buy the moisturizing ones! Your eyes will be an oil slick - they are terrible. The regular ones are not drying anyway and they are brilliant!

So, anyone have mascara opinions? Have a husband or son with unfairly lush lashes who doesn't at all appreciate that fact?

*I received no product or cash or any compensation of any kind for this post. Like I said, life's not fair.

I agree on the Great Lash - hate it. I had another Maybelline that I loved but they discontinued it so I'm searching. I just bought Rimmel Sexxy Curves (stupid names) and I'm liking it so far.

I used Dior Show a million years ago. Good to know it's still the right stuff!

Per a recommendation from Candy at Candy's Daily Dandy, I switched to Mabelline's new Lash Stiletto and I have to say that it has not let me down. I have to use multiple coats to just get my lashes to show up, because they are white (don't get me started on my eyebrows), but I have had to do that with any mascara. However, it does NOT clump, smudge, flake or come off during my marathon nap sessions. And it's under $10. What's not to like?

If he realises you've put these photos online do you think that might push him to cut them off once and for all?!

Pop and Ice - I've heard Lash Stiletto (dumb name IMO) is good but haven't tried it myself.

mo. - Well, I tried to shoot only his eyeball and not his face, and anyway, he doesn't read my blog!

Those lashes are adorable. Same coloring as my youngest son who is 8. I've asked him a lot lately if I can cut a few off (just a few!!) and get some good lady glue and add them to mine. He told me no.

Just beautiful. I have to say, dark lashes is one good thing about being a brunette...

My brother has the best eyelashes and he has this great, thick wavy hair. I, on the other hand, have practically non existent lashes and fine, straight hair. So not fair!!!

Beautiful lashes! So not fair! ;)

I am using Maybelline Great Lash right now and I like it OK...does the job and is cheap. I've used Max Factor 2000 Calorie before and really liked it. I almost bought the new Maybelline Stiletto mascara the other day just for the name. Such a sucker for marketing am I.

I use, and have always used, Lancome Definicils (spelled totally wrong). It NEVER EVER runs, even though it does not even claim to be waterproof. I have super long lashes and they used to get stuck in my eyebrows, but this mascara curls them enough that they don't. I love it.

Great Lash--I'm allergic. I wonder if I would be to Lash Stilleto? Maybelline has a good one that has a normal size brush and a tiny brush, I like to use that to coax those tiny lashes out of their hiding spots. Alas, small eyes, small lashes.

As for males and their lashes, I think mascara was created by them so we could look lush too. So many boys and young men have lovely lashes. Goes over well when I tell them...

;)

BlondeMom - Im a sucker for the marketing too. I just WANT to believe them!

Musings - I have heard great things about Lancome mascaras. And I'm jealous that you have lashes that get stuck in your eyebrows. That's awesome!

Imp has the same kind of eyelashes and it makes me see green! Oiy! And we've not got a clue where she gets them from. She won't be needing to use Dior, that's for sure!

And thanks for the tip. I have barely there lashes and I need ALL THE HELP I can get!
