Tea Flowers

My mom sent me this wonderful little gift - a tea pot and green tea flowers.

This is the little pot and the packages of flowers to choose from.

The flowers look like little balls of - something organic... And organic is always good right?

The web site says the tea flowers are cultivated from a unique blend of green tea and jasmine, and they are handsewn and reusable. Select leaves are paired with certain flowers to form an encapsulated pod that will bloom in a mug or teapot when hot water is added. Each can be used up to three times and makes five cups of tea.

Boil 16 oz of water, pour it over the flower ball, and let it steep for several minutes. The picture above is the flower beginning to open up after about a minute.

Voila! A pretty little red flower emerges! The aroma of jasmine is heavenly. I put the flower in a container so I can reuse it. You can also put the leftover tea in the refrigerator and serve it cold.

My treat! I added a teaspoon of the honey the boys gave me for my birthday, Savannah Bee Company Organic Acacia Honey. (bottle of honey hidden behind my teacup)

I love it! THANKS MOM!

Husband says you have to drink TONS and TONS of green tea to get the health benefits but I'm going to assume that this is so darn cute that I'm clearly healthier for having this and drinking two cups each evening.

Is this not the cutest gift? (You can get one here.)

I bet your house smells a LOT better than mine right now. ;)

Pretty! And I will have to check their website out. My mom is a big tea drinker. Neat gift idea.

I LOVE that! Even if it's not healthy for you, it's beautiful to look at. Art in a pot!

I have the same tea leaves and a cute little pot to brew them in, as well.
Green tea is SO good for you!

Look at it this way: If you're drinking tea, it means you're not drinking pop or coffee, which are far worse for you. So if you drink any tea at all, there's really no downside.

I think the whole plant in the teapot is absolutely adorable.

Fascinating. Would love to try it. But those tea-flower-thingies look a bit too alive for my liking. Almost alien-like!
