Guilty Pleasure

I never thought in a million years I'd say this, but: Tori Spelling McDermott seems like a normal working mom/ wife/ person.

I never thought in a million years to the 10th power I'd say this, but: I like her.

Yes, my current guilty pleasure (apart from Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me) is Tori & Dean. Last year at some point I was sick in bed and you know nothing is ever on TV worth watching when you are sick, and Tori & Dean: Inn Love was on so I watched it. And then I watched again and again and I sort of loved it.

I think she's adorable. The show is basically a Mommy Blog that is filmed instead of blogged. You see her life, all the things she's dealing with, and she talks about it in little interviews. Her struggles, incredibly, are ones I can relate to - the stress of moving, having a spouse out of town when you need them, having to work when you are sick, having to work when you want to be home with your kids, party planning disasters, and other Stuff Normal People Do. It's all much more "normal" than I would have ever thought.

And I think she's really funny. And (up til now at least) I like the way she and Dean talk to each other. I think they communicate really well and do so consistently. They push through being annoyed with each other and find their way back to being close and feeling understood. (Seriously hoping I did not just jinx them and thereby ruin the show for me.)

So, I like Tori and think her show is cute.

But don't tell anyone.

What's your guilty pleasure? I won't tell!

PS: No, I don't think she's too skinny. I think she looks fine.

I watched Tori & Dean Inn Love too on and off last year. I love America's Next Top Model and Katie and Peter. It's car crash TV and I LOVE IT.

... but don't tell anyone.

You are right on the dot - I agree with everything you said. I think she is incredibly normal and down to earth. And she has the most fabulous wardrobe...

I do think she is a bit on the thin side but if she gained 5 lbs they'd say she's pregnant so I agree - she's fine.

A secret Sausage and Egg McMuffin. But don't tell anyone.

I don't watch TV. OKAY?! There, I said it. I never turn the damn thing on. I'm sorry, if I have 30 minutes to myself, I'm reading blogs or writing. That, is my passion.

The funny part is when the 3,000,000th person asks if you watched the MJ funeral or the Super Bowl and you just shrug. Come on people! It's not my fault I get bored with it...geez.

I may or may not DVR this show weekly so that I can watch it alone, without ribbing from anyone else who lives in my house. :-)

I also watch Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Seeing that guy interact with his kids gives me a whole new perspective on his image.

You know, I saw this show a couple of times and both my husband and I commented on how 'normal' she was. I used to hate her on 90210... and I guess I thought she would be like that in real life, too, but when I watched her show, I saw a really nice, down to earth mama! She's sweet, and a good mom. :)

How funny. Now I must check it out. A guilty pleasure for me used to be The Girl's Next Door circa 2 years ago...

I caught a couple of episodes a few weeks ago - no idea how or why. I wanted to not like them for some reason but they really were pretty likable. They seem mostly normal which is a miracle. I could use a little less whining from her about some things (traveling w/o Dean - she must have said 37 times she had never gone anywhere w/o him) but considering how messed up most of Hollywood is if that's all I've got to say then she is doing okay.

My guilty pleasures? Project Runway which is coming back next month and Top Chef. Love them! Okay and maybe I've been known to watch the Real World now and then but I don't Tivo it and it is rare. But my hubby mocks me.

My guilty pleasure is lazing in bed reading blogs and twittering on my iPhone - just like I'm doing now!

You are so right...nothing good is ever on TV when you're sick. It's about the ONLY time I watch Oprah!

So you like Tori? I admit to being annoyed by her at times, but you make the show sound so genuine and likable that I'm tempted to give it a go...

The Housewives series on Bravo. During a bout of kidney stones, I watched a marathon of the Atlanta houswives and during sinus infection I watched marathon of NJ housewives.Definitely like a carwreck- the more ridiculous it gets the more I have to watch :)

mo.- Egg McMuffin. yum.

Amo - I watch very little and all in reruns cause it's catch as catch can. the only show I have to watch each week when it comes on is Project Runway.

Loukia - I never watch 90210 cause the whole thing annoyed me and I didn't like her at all. So, quel surprise when I loved Tori and Dean!

Michelle - I'm not even guilty about Project Runway cause I just flat out LOVE IT.

Anon - I can't bring myself to even look at the Real Housewives thing. Tori was an accidental find and it's not a trainwreck or overdramatized (quel surprise!) so I can hang with it. I am fairly sure I'd not last through a Real Housewives episode!

I love the Soup hosted by Joel McHale on E. He is hilarious! If he ever does a comedy show in Nashville I am so there.

Someone else was Twittering about this show....I'm going to have to Tivo it!!!! It sounds like they have a great chemistry and I could relate to the themes, too.

p.s. hope you are feeling better!

I have a reality show for just about every time of year. When one ends another begins. Drives my husband crazy. Currently it's So You Think You Can Dance and Next Food Network Star, but I eagerly await the return of America's Next Top Model, Top Chef, Project Runway and Dancing With the Stars.

p.s. I'm trying to teach my 4yo the words to Pour Some Sugar On Me so we can drive my husband crazy with it!
