A Letter To My Blog

My dear blog,

I am sorry that I've so neglected you these last two weeks. I've thought of you every day.

As you well know, you are but a snapshot, a sliver of my life, representing only those things that I wish to capture in this way (and find time to actually do so). Or in my weaker moments, the things that are just buggin' me. Or, well, shoes.

Not to diminish your importance, for it is great. But I needed a break. I needed not to worry about you - about the writing, the emails, your wee blog cousins out there in my Reader (whom I adore), and your blasted statistics, those bloody evil numbers. And Twitter - goodness I've basically stopped twittering.

(I checked in with Reader a time or two to see posts about some mommy blogger bashing (again, dear GOD), likely bashing each other (again) if I had to guess, and I quickly clicked away. I'm not here for that, I don't have the mental energy to spare for it, and it helped me stay away a bit longer. Disheartening.)

You want to know where I went? Nowhere. Do not worry. I have to live a life in order to have something to blog about, you see. That statement should by all rights lead to an actual post about something but alas, no. Not yet.

I will say that I've been reading books. I've been thinking over some things. And I took my mom and my sister to a fashion show for Mom's birthday!

P and I went to the first concert in our Symphony season.

(This meant a weekend with Mr. Choo and Mr. Louboutin! They've not gotten out much lately.)

(Geez, I need a haircut.)

So things are humming along fine and I have missed you, dear blog. I will be posting regularly again. Swears.

Amy

I LOVE that dress you wore to the symphony. Adorable!

The reason I only occasionally twitter is because no sooner than I start I feel I need a break!

I think whenever a blog becomes a worry, or a magnet for all our energy or thoughts, a break is a sensible thing.

Oh, I went out to the movies last night with Mr. Crocs and Mr. Greysweats. We met an old friend who I didn't need to impress and we went to a second-run theater where the only employee was wearing plaid flannel lounge pants that made me look...well, "hot" would be a huge stretch, but let's pretend.

Mommy blogger bashing is a huge turn off isn't it? Sigh...

I've been noticing you were very very quiet on Twitter!!!

Yea for taking your mom and sister out and yea for dates with hubbies! Those things trump the blog any day.

p.s. that black dress is fab :)

Our blogs are so demanding, aren't they? Sometimes I wish mine would just, I don't know . . . write itself!

Amy,

Pop and Ice - THANKS!

Jessica - The dress is from Blush Boutique in Brentwood (second location coming soon to Belle Meade) - the best designer discount in the city.

mo. - you are always the voice of reason my friend. But then, Americans are always completely taken with the accent, so maybe it's that I hear you in my head speaking as Daniel Craig?

de - sometimes the nights out around the fire in the backyard are the best!

Shari - well we established long ago that we were seperated at birth!

Jamie - Thanks, it was really fun.

Rima - So true. Google totally needs to get on the ultimate self-publishing blog- writes itself!

2 little - the breaks are healthy, aren't they?
