This is an easy, tangy BBQ sauce for baking or basting. You may as well make a double or triple recipe, since it'll keep in the fridge.
Combine in a saucepan:
1/2 C catsup
1/4 C water
1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced (or a couple teaspoons of dried minced onion)
1 T brown sugar
1 T cider vinegar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t chili powder
1/2 t pepper
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. (It smells wonderful.)
Baste generously!

yum!
I've missed seeing these morning pictures which always make me regret rushing out the house without breakfast.
I hate to ask because I should google it but what's catsup?
mo - I simply can't believe you pop in and read my recipes every Monday. But THANKS.
rubbish - It's spicy tomato sauce, like for a cheeseburger. You have that in England right? Alternate spelling is ketchup.
I don't remember not being able to get ketchup when I was across the pond, but I was preggers and that does affect one's brain.
I was just kicking myself for forgetting to buy BBQ sauce at the store yesterday. But now, I can make THIS! Thank you for saving me.
That's usually when I think to make a big batch! When I run out and just throw this in a sauce pan. It's better than most I've ever bought.
AMEN sista! YUM YUM YUM :-)
YUM! I make something similar to this. I bet it smells wonderful!
So happy to see this, as BBQ sauce is tough to find here in the UK. I miss the condiment aisles of the USA!!
I love you for this!
I am a BBQ addict. Thanks for being an enabler!
