I took Shark Boy hiking a couple of times during Spring Break. I followed him through the woods, taking pictures and watching him, letting him stop whenever he wanted, to throw rocks in the water or look for hiking sticks.
He's a good companion. He is interested in everything, and he's thoughtful and funny.
I'm proud of who he's turning out to be. (And why is this picture so devastating, putting my heart in my throat?)
He's a good looking kid, if I do say so myself.
We sat on the side of the trail eating apples and drinking water. After a while he said,
"I like this."
"You like what?"
"I like being out here, with you."
Ditto, my boy.
