Good tips! I am in a shopping rut right now. Why is it that when I have money to spend, I can't find anything? I desperately need new work clothes for fall. AT, AT Loft, Banana and Gap aren't doing it for me. I'm hating the long tight shirts that seem to be in style now! They do absolutely NOTHING for my muffin top. Ack!

I love the dress - gorgeous! And I loved this post, too.. I'm obsessed with shopping right now, for fall clothes and boots and everything... and I love doing closet re-orgs so that I can make more room for all the new stuff! But it's true, 'sleep on it' is great advice - if you don't totally love it, don't buy it. But if wake up still thinking about it - buy it! :)

Quite honestly the place I've worked at for the past 8 years is so casual I can wear jeans every day. I used to do more PR/public type work but now it's all behind ad desk, at a computer, at the phone. Sadly I no longer "need" to look sassy and so unfortunately I fall into a rut.

I did, however, this summer embrace cute skirts. That helped.

But casual workplace and double daycare for a year and a half kind of killed my desire to shop much...bummer!

I have more T shirts, shirts and jeans than I can wave a shitty stick at. And suits, I have 22 suits and I go to work in a polo shirt and Chinos? Every year the charity shop does quite well out of me though.
Current splurges are DVD's. Having bought all the 24 series and Sopranos, I'm now working my way through Shameless and then, well, maybe Lost?
No wonder your boys sporty because as we would say in Britain, you're fit!!!

I "shop in my closet" now and again, which works because I can't bear to get rid of anything. I go through occasionally and can only purge a few things because even if I haven't worn the item in years, I always think "maybe that will fit again one day," or "I hate it, but it fits, so I should keep it and force myself to wear it." Then I never do and it sits another year.

Worst, though, was actually giving up hope and getting rid of all my too-small pants, then losing twenty pounds with no effort via breastfeeding, and having to buy all new pants because now they're all falling off of me! (boo hoo, I know.)

I agree that LAMB is a good line. Love the purses. I could never wear those shoes.

I heard a woman on the radio (she had recently published a book on fashion, but I missed the deets) and her tip was "Shop in your own closet." With that in mind, I'm being more creative when I put together outfits. This week, I paired dressier shoes with my pants outfits and actually got compliments.

Being a SAHM, I've really gone the comfort-over-style route for too, too long. It was getting hard for me to imagine wearing things I never would have thought twice about when I went to work. (I guess using my brain at work kept me from thinking about the digging bra straps and waistbands.)

The dress is gorgeous!!! I definitely want one. As for what I do to cut the shopping budget...I just try to stay out of the stores. Oh, I still window shop online, but I only go when I am ready to buy something and even then, there are days I come home empty handed, but yes...season shopping--fun! :)

That is an absolutely adorable dress! And yes, I do retail therapy. My favorite online and in-person store is Talbots. And shoes. From anyone. But a bit harder to do now that I'm unemployed. And my child support is dorked. But I have to allow myself and my kids some small pleasures or we'd go crazy!
