I read this post last week, and I wondered how to comment.

I have naturally wavy-used-to-be-curly hair. It does what it wants. I do don't do it, because I don't know how. My mom "did" my hair until 8th grade, I wore it short all through HS, and then, well I can't really remember.

But reading this post made me shape up and get it shaped. I don't know if it's "mom hair", but then again with a 22 year old, I don't qualify for the Mom title like you do.

At any rate, I can't do any of the styles you mentioned. Don't have the hair, don't have the skills. Your style is sharp and sassy, you are a lucky girl! Yours is not mom hair, yours is stunning.

Hair is one of my fave subjects. I had the mom-bob in my 30's when I had 3 kids in 4 years. Then I reached 40 and grew it long again (with layers). I went all cougar-like. Sort of. Then it changed from straight hair to wavy. Now I can't make it straight very well. When I get it blow dried everyone stops me and raves. Which is sort of annoying because umm, 99% of the time it's not fab. So on my own I can't do it very well anymore. It is a little past collar-bone and I should get it cut some. Hubs has asked me 4 times recently if I am getting it cut. I guess I should.

I have naturally curly hair which I try to straighten. It looks fabulous when my stylist blows it out. Most of the time it's kinda naturally fuzzy (as you know from the drizzle and humidity in Memphis!)

I have a pixie bob. I can't do a longer bob because my hair is so thick and wiry (I know, cry me a river).

i believe "Mom Hair" is really caused by not getting frequent cuts - the tendency to "let yourself go" too long. If you have very long hair, this is less of a problem, I think.

Um, I'm 46, I wear "milk maid braids" as they're being called. Except I don't look like a milkmaid, I look like a woman who grew up on the ranch and works her a*# off doing brickwork (currently) and likes to keep her hair out of her face.

Interesting, I never new there was such heated feelings about this. Nobody has ever said a word to me.

I'd do the wide headband with the ties over the shoulder, with big sunglasses. Somehow I just envision you that way. The large-brim hat is also a very on-trend option. Don't grow it. It's fabulous the way it is!

I did the bob thing but on me it really WAS mom hair, and I missed my ponytail so desperately I actually had a phantom one for a while, like those amputees who still feel their missing limbs after they're gone. I wrote an angtsy poem about it and started growing it back out. Now I'm sort of in that Rachel-from-Friends stage, which is VERY 1996 but a necessary part of the process.

Broccoli - Oh I know about the pinning and the headbands (only in the house!) of the darn stupid bangs. What was I thinking? I know bangs don't lay right on me. argh.

I would go long again because it is hard, and it gets harder as you get older btw, to keep short styles from looking like Mom Hair. But my hair holds water like a sponge and while my style is easy to do, it takes 30 minutes to blow it out just because it takes so long to get it to dry. Long hair means WAY too much time with a hair dryer for me.

I love your hair! It's super nice and stylish! I only wear my hair down and long - sometimes with a bit of a wave, or I might leave it naturally curly but I love it the most when it's straight! When I'm with the kids, ponytail, without fail.

I have a bob right now - it used to be an angled bob, longer in the front and shorter in the back, and longer on the right when I did a side parting.

Then, applying really poor judgment, I let someone else at the salon trim my hair because my guy was booked solid. What did she do? de-angled my bob and added this weird layer in the back. Excuse me while I bang my head against the wall.

Ah!!! I thought I was over all of my urges to chop off my hair and do a cute bob, but now they're back. I love cute, short hair. The problem is I never have time to style it. JUST YESTERDAY I was having a conversation with my BRAND NEW (and only) friend in my new town. She has the haircut I want, and it's exactly like yours, but since she's the only one I hang out with on a regular basis, it would look odd to have the same cut.

So, I'm sporting the mommy-tail. Ironically, Steve and I went out on a date last week and one of the waitresses introduced herself and said that she lives in our new hood and didn't recognize me without a pony tail.
